nest

'Nest' is the story of an unconventional marriage; the husband is human whilst the wife has the head of a bird. When their relationship gets stuck in a rut, the husband decided the only way he can get close to her again is to become more bird-like himself.

director's statement

Through all of the projects I have written and directed there always tends to be an absurdist streak, and 'Nest' is no different.

The exploration of a crumbling relationship is not a unique theme in cinema by any means, but it was the twist of making the partners' differences tangibly physical that held appeal for me, and the choice to make the female character a raven seemed so loaded with interpretive potential that I felt that this was a story that I needed to tell.

Though nobody is liable to have experienced the events of 'Nest' in its most literal terms, hopefully it speaks to a more universal experience of relationships, questioning how much we change to please our partners, and at what point we change so much that we're no longer the person they fell in love with.
